MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities said all Somerset Public Schools were put on lockdown Thursday morning as they investigate a threat made by a man against a student in the school district.
School officials put out a notice about the threat at about 9:56 a.m. Thursday. According to the school district’s web site, an adult male made a verbal threat to students at one of the schools. Authorities responded and were sweeping the school to make sure the man was no longer in the building. It is believed the man left the building after making the threat.
In a statement, District Administrator Randy Rosburg said school administrators are taking the threat very seriously and that all students are safe and with district employees inside their schools.
Authorities said the man who made the threat is described as a white male about 6 feet, 2 inches tall with a big build. He was wearing light blue jeans, a red sweatshirt, white hat, had a bushy beard and shoulder-length bushy dark hair. Anyone who sees the man is asked to call Somerset Police.
