MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — The St. Paul Police Department has identified the two victims critically injured in a hit-and-run over the weekend.

On Monday afternoon, St. Paul police tweeted that the victims were 22-year-old Nicholas Bergeland and 22-year-old Rebekka Peterson, both of St. Paul. They are currently being treated at Regions Hospital.

The two suffered injuries early Sunday morning in a hit-and-run on the 1900 block of Grand Avenue. The driver fled the scene but police were able to release a few details about the incident.

Earlier on Monday, police announced that they recovered the car suspected in the hit-and-run. Police say it was recovered at around 5 p.m. Sunday on the 1700 block of Carroll. The driver wasn’t arrested.

Officials had initially put out a request for information regarding the whereabouts of a silver 2011-2013 Mazda2 with left front end damage.

Around 9:45 a.m. Monday, authorities said the vehicle was found.
