BLAINE, Minn. (WCCO) – Three suspects are in police custody, and one is recovering from injuries sustained from a K-9 officer, after a robbery spree in Anoka County Thursday night.
According to Blaine Police, officers from multiple law enforcement agencies responded to three separate reports of armed robberies in the area between 11:00 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.
The first report was on the 1000 block of County Road 10 in Spring Lake Park, the second was near Able Street Northeast and 87th Lane Northeast in Blaine and the third was on the 1100 block of 95th Avenue Northeast, also in Blaine.
Descriptions from witnesses about the suspects, their vehicle and weapon (a shotgun or rifle) tied all three crimes together.
A Blaine Police officer saw the vehicle in question speeding northbound on Polk Street Northeast, ignoring a stop sign in the process. The officer pursued, and eventually found the vehicle crashed and abandoned on the 900 block of 102nd Lane Northeast.
Authorities soon set up a perimeter, which successfully helped to snag the suspects.
One of the suspects was injured by a Blaine K-9 officer. He was treated and sent to Anoka County Jail, where the other two suspects are being held.
Police matched the weapon used in the robberies to one stolen at gunpoint two hours earlier from a driver in St. Paul.
