MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A man from St. Cloud is in jail tonight accused of killing his 72-year-old mother.
Investigators say they were called to the Wimbledon Green Apartments on 33rd Avenue North in St. Cloud, early Saturday morning.
Police say Lois Omeara died after being stabbed multiple times. Investigators aren’t commenting on a possible motive.
Now, Omeara’s son, 52-year-old Dean Friese could be charged Monday with second-degree murder.
Susan Rowe, who lives in the same apartment, says she had just talked to Omeara on Friday about her son’s birthday.
“From what Lois said, they typically went out to dinner for the birthday and then shopping. He didn’t want anything to do with it. He said he didn’t feel up to it,” Rowe said.
Lowe said the Friese suffered from chronic insomnia.
Friese has been in trouble for violent behavior before. Court records show he served three years in prison in 2000 for second degree assault.
St. Cloud Police say more information about the case will be released Monday.
