MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO/AP) — Minneapolis police say a 2-month-old boy is listed in critical condition after being struck by a stray bullet.
The shooting happened a little before 9 p.m. Thursday on the 2400 block of Emerson Avenue North.
Police spokeswoman Cyndi Barrington says it appears the child was with his father outside a home on the city’s north side. Barrington says the father reported hearing a bang and then noticing his son had been hit.
Paramedics rushed the boy to the Hennepin County Medical Center, where he is listed in critical condition.
No suspect was in custody and Barrington says a motive was not known.
Just two weeks ago, a 14-month-old was shot and also a 19-year-old woman who was pregnant. That incident happened just a few blocks from this most recent shooting.
No arrests have been made in either case.
Minneapolis city councilman and mayoral candidate Don Samuels was at the scene and said gun violence needs to be stopped.
