MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Two men suspected of stealing checks, cash and gift cards from wedding receptions in the north metro have been charged with theft.
Derrick Duane Manson, 41, and Aaron Ray Martin, 40, both face one felony count of theft, according to documents filed in Anoka County. If convicted, the accused could face a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and/or a $20,000 fine.
Manson and Martin are accused of snatching the gift box at a wedding reception at Majestic Oaks Golf Club in Ham Lake on July 20. According to a criminal complaint, the box contained a total of $7,455 in checks, cash and gift cards.
The suspects – and 30-year-old Sara Rose Lindstrom — are then said to have used the gift cards later that night at the Andover Target store.
Surveillance video from both the Target store and the golf club captured the suspects.
Manson is also being investigated by Brooklyn Park police in connection with a similar wedding robbery at the Edinburgh Country Club on July 6.
The whereabouts of Mason and Martin remain unknown. If you know where they are, call the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office at 763-427-1212 or the Brooklyn Park Police at 763-493-8222.
