ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) – A 42-year-old man who is currently serving as a Washington County Commissioner entered an alford plea in Ramsey County Court Wednesday in connection with a domestic assault case going back to May of 2011.

Bill Pulkrabek had been charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct in connection with the incident. By entering an alford plea, he did not admit guilt in the case but acknowledged that the prosecution likely had sufficient evidence to convict him of the charge.

Pulkrabek was sentenced to one year of probation, must pay a $200 fine and must attend anger management classes. He was originally arrested by Woodbury Police and jailed for felony domestic assault by strangulation, but that felony charge was later dismissed because of “insufficient evidence” to support the case.

Pulkrabek’s term as Washington County Commissioner is set to expire in 2014. He was also the mayor of Oakdale from 1995 to 1998.
