PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — Seven of eight people accused of illegally hunting geese in eastern South Dakota’s Miner County have now been sentenced in federal court.
U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson says the group of friends known as “Team Those Guys” killed nearly 425 geese over a six-day period last November using an illegal electronic device.
The seven suspects who have been sentenced all have been given probation, $200 fines and various amounts of restitution. Their hunting privileges also are revoked for one year.
The suspects are from the South Dakota cities of Sioux Falls, Brookings, Alpena and Winfred, and from Lake Benton, Minn. The last suspect is to be sentenced next week.
