MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 32-year-old man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for having inappropriate sexual contact with a child under the age of 12.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Minnesota said Joseph Valerian Parshall was sentenced on Monday. He had been indicted on two counts of aggravated sexual abuse against a child.
According to court documents, Parshall committed sexual acts against the child on Feb. 1 and July 27 in 2011. The Red Lake Tribal Police Department was informed about the incident on July 27.
Parshall was arrested by the FBI in Minneapolis on Aug. 31 of that year.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office said the reason the FBI investigated the case was because the Red Lake Indian Reservation falls under federal-jurisdiction.
