ST. FRANCIS, Minn. (WCCO) – St. Francis police are investigating a rash of car break-ins — done all in one night.

Seven cars were broken into on Yucca Street NW and the person responsible destroyed car dashes, getting away with stereos, speakers, GPS units and other expensive electronics.

“I woke up and I came outside and my car was missing,” Christian Farrier said.

Farrier could not believe his eyes when the spot where he usually parks his car was vacant.

He quickly called a neighbor, who took him for a ride around the corner to ask others if they had seen his car.

There was some damaged to his car, like someone had rambled through it looking for something. It wasn’t until police showed up that he learned the theft of his car was linked to several car break-ins in the area.

“They ripped all my wires out, took my subs out of my car — they took my speakers,” Tom Burns said.

Burns learned his neighbor across the street, next door, and down the block all had their cars broken into. Deputies said an alert neighbor told them she noticed a man hiding in the bushes in the early morning hours.

It didn’t take long for them to track him down, and he’s now in custody awaiting charges.

Deputies were able to recover some of the goods taken from the cars. The suspect allegedly had some of the electronics hiding in the brush with him.

The man faces felony theft and burglary charges, and will most likely be charged by early next week.
