MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A 22-year-old man from Robbinsdale has been charged with second-degree murder, among other charges, in connection with a fatal shooting in June, according to police.
The shooting occurred around 7:30 p.m. on June 24 on the 2100 block of West Broadway. Officers found a man lying on the sidewalk, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The 21-year-ols Minneapolis man was taken to the hospital where he died on July 6.
Earlier this week, the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office charged Marlon Rashaad Robertson with the man’s death.
Witnesses led investigators to Robertson after providing a description of the suspected shooter, which included a description of his “distinctive footwear.”
Investigators also learned a man sold a handgun to a person a few days after the shooting — and admitted he knew it worked because he recently “emptied it.”
Investigators eventually interviewed the man who sold the handgun, which was tested and linked to the homicide.
In a search warrant of the suspect’s home, the “distinctive footwear” was recovered.
Robertson was arrested in St. Louis Park on Aug. 1. In addition to the murder charge, he is charged with two counts of second-degree attempted murder and first-degree aggravated tampering with a witness.
Robertson is currently in custody at the Hennpin County Jail.
