MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 27-year-old Inver Grove Heights man is accused of criminal sexual conduct for allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with a 15-year-old girl, according to charges filed Monday in Dakota County Court.
Chad Gregory Buckner was charged with one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct in connection with the case. According to the charges, the girl was interviewed by police and initially denied that she was in a sexual relationship with Buckner. She eventually admitted that she was in a relationship with him from June to July 15.
On July 16, she told police they had engaged in sex at his Inver Grove Heights home, according to the complaint.
The complaint states that on July 18, police spoke with Buckner and he admitted to having a sexual relationship with the girl, knowing she was underage. He told police “I know I’m guilty,” according to the complaint.
An officer told both of them not to have contact with each other but later learned they were still seeing each other and in fact became engaged, the complaint states.
If convicted, Buckner faces up to 15 years in prison and a $30,000 fine.
