MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Officials have identified the man who died in surgery after being shot over the weekend on the city’s north side.
Thirty-five-year-old Robert Johnson of St. Paul died in a North Memorial Medical Center operating room at 6:23 a.m. Sunday, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office said. The cause of death was a gunshot wound to the chest and abdomen.
Minneapolis Police found Johnson that morning when responding to a shooting on the 3400 block of Fremont Avenue North. When officers got to the scene, they found him lying on the sidewalk, wounded. Crews took him to the hospital, where he died.
Investigators say Johnson knew his shooter, and that he was shot during an argument. The shooter fled the scene.
No arrests have yet been made, but police say they are interviewing witnesses.
