MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – There was a slight rise in serious crime documented in Minnesota in 2012, according to a report released Monday by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA).
The Uniform Crime Report – made of data compiled by the BCA from local law enforcement agencies — shows a 3.4 percent increase in violent crimes in 2012 when compared to 2011.
The report shows a 26 percent jump in murder while the number of rapes dropped by 1 percent.
Robbery continued on a downward trend, the BCA said, and aggravated assault saw a small increase after steady declines over the past several years.
