MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — An Otsego woman now faces up to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to embezzling postal funds from the Brooklyn Park Post Office, the United States Attorney’s Office announced Thursday.
Kathleen Warner, 53, was indicted on March 12, 2013, which charged her with one count of misappropriation of postal funds.
In her plea agreement, Warner admitted to stealing funds exceeding $1,500 while working as a service associate for the USPS. She also admitted to recording cash sales of postage stamps incorrectly for her benefit, using postage stamps for personal mailings without paying for them, taking money out of her cash drawer to purchase Post Office merchandise, and taking money from the cash drawer for her own benefit.
Her activities were discovered through use of surveillance camera.
Her sentence will be determined at a future hearing yet to be scheduled.
