MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A 42-year-old Fridley man has pleaded guilty to robbing two Twin Cities’ shoe stores in early January, according to the United States Attorney’s Office.

In federal court Friday, Peter Christopher Nunn specifically pleaded guilty to two counts of interference with commerce by robbery, pursuant to the Hobbs Act. Nunn was indicted on Feb. 5, 2013.

Nunn admitted that he robbed a Payless ShoeSource and a Famous Footwear store — taking approximately $1,000 total. In both cases, he threatened employees by using a weapon later determined to be a BB gun.

Nunn could face up to 20 years in prison for each count.

The Hobbs Act allows federal prosecutors to persecute violent habitual criminals who commit armed robberies in places of business that involve interstate commerce.
