Cops: South St. Paul Officer Arrested For Suspected DUI

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – South St. Paul Police say a 13-year veteran of their department was arrested Tuesday morning for allegedly driving under the influence and fleeing a peace officer.

Sgt. Cory Slifko was off duty and driving his personal car near Rosemount when a 911 call was made about his driving and his allegedly damaging road-side mailboxes. When an officer tried to stop Slifko, he attempted to drive away, police say. He was, however, eventually stopped and arrested at around 10:30 a.m.

Chief William Messerich said the department holds it officers to high standards and that what allegedly happened Tuesday morning was “very concerning.” Slifko is currently on paid administrative leave, pending further information.
