MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Take your valuables out of your car before you head to the lake, park or to a Twins game.
Last year, Minneapolis police dealt with nearly 4,000 car break-ins, and they say there have been 1,200 so far this year.
And as the temperatures begin to go up, the number of break-ins does, too.
On Thursday, I took a walk near Lake Calhoun with Minneapolis Police officers, who showed me many cars that had valuables – wallets, phones – in them easily visible to the naked eye.
Watch the video above to learn what you shouldn’t do when it comes to your valuables. For instance, hiding your purse under a jacket is a bad idea. That just tells robbers where to look.
