MOORHEAD, Minn. (AP) — A Moorhead police officer killed in the line of duty more than 80 years ago is being remembered and honored this Memorial Day weekend.

Officer Roy Larson was shot and killed Dec. 6, 1930, while trying to catch a robber who police say shot Larson’s partner.

The Moorhead Police Department and Honor Guard are joining Larson’s family members to place a new granite marker at his gravesite Saturday afternoon at Riverside Cemetery in Glyndon. It will supplement a current family stone that doesn’t show Larson’s police service or that he died in the line of duty.

The marker was donated by Dakota Monument.
