MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Prostitution charges against a former Twin Cities high school football coach have been dismissed, and in turn Mark Mauer must obey the terms of a 1-year probation and pay $500 in court fees.

The ruling was issued Monday in Anoka County Court. Mauer, 54, had been charged in a prostitution case where as many as 19 men were arrested at a Fridley hotel. He had previously been the head football coach at Hill-Murray High School and is also a cousin of Twins’ catcher Joe Mauer.

If Mauer pays the fine and obeys the terms of his probation, the charges against him will be thrown out. According to a police report, Mauer agreed to pay $100 for “full service” at the hotel back in February. Up to 19 men and four women were involved in the prostitution ring.

Mauer resigned as Hill-Murray’s football coach shortly after being arrested for the incident.
