MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — One week ago, a 20-hour manhunt came to an end in southern Minnesota for a man police say stabbed his girlfriend dozens of times. Now, the victim, LaLonnie Moorman, is speaking for the first time.

Moorman says her life changed a week ago when her boyfriend, Shane Wilson attacked her with a knife.

“These are from defensive wounds from the knife where he was trying to cut me and stab me,” Moorman said, showing her bandaged hands.

She said Wilson stabbed her more than 30 times. She also suffered a punctured lung and cuts to her head and neck.

“I guess I struggle with how I feel from one second to the next. Everything is so confusing to me,” Moorman said.

The family was hanging out last Saturday when Wilson lost his cell phone. When they returned home to get it, Moorman said she was attacked.

“He didn’t say anything or anything like that, so I’m really like still in shock because he was never that type of person. I never expected this,” Moorman said.

Moorman was found in her car with her two boys, outside the Faribault police station.

Investigators believe Wilson stole a car to flee the area. It was found on fire in Steel County.

Wilson was captured a short time later.

Moorman says her faith and family keep her going.

“It’s what makes me want to survive they mean the world to me,” Moorman said.

Moorman says her parents and church family have been a big support. She says what she needs now is time to heal and prayers for her family.

Her friends have set up a fund to help her. For more information, visit the Facebook page.
