MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A Minnesota lawmaker had trouble getting word out he was OK after finishing the Boston Marathon, site of a deadly explosion.
Democratic state Sen. Scott Dibble of Minneapolis says he finished the race about 20 minutes to a half-hour before Monday’s blast near the finish line.
Dibble says he was getting into a cab and did not see or hear the explosion. But he says his cellphone was out of power, and it took up to 15 minutes before he could recharge his phone and let friends and family know he was OK.
Dibble says he was using his phone to track his pace and “drained it.” He says people were “very, very, very worried” they couldn’t reach him.
He finished his first Boston Marathon in 3 hours, 28 minutes.
