HUDSON, Wis. (WCCO) – Because of the winter storm, Aaron Schaffhausen’s murder trial started late Thursday morning.

Testimony continued to determine whether Schaffhausen, the Wisconsin father who has already pleaded guilty to murdering his three young daughters last summer, was insane at the time of the killings.

A Bank employee testified Schaffhausen had withdrawn $1,000 from his bank account the day before the girls were murdered.

An analyst for the state of Wisconsin Crime lab is testifying about the cell phone records of Schaffhausen and his ex-wife, Jessica Schaffhausen, on the day of the murders.

If the jury finds Aaron Schaffhausen insane, he would be sent to a state mental hospital and could one day be released. If found sane, he would spend the rest of his life in prison.

Testimony in the trial is expected to continue into the middle of next week.
