MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 48-year-old man from Guatemala was indicted Wednesday in federal court for illegally entering the United States after being deported more than a decade ago following a conviction for selling meth in Minnesota, the Justice Department said.
Hector Raul Estrada-Garcia was charged with one count of illegal re-entry after deportation.
On March 7, 2013, Estrada-Garcia was found in the U.S. after having been deported to Guatemala in 2000 following a 1997 conviction for distributing meth, an indictment alleges.
If convicted of illegal re-entry, Estrada-Garcia could face a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison followed by deportation, the department said.
