MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 49-year-old Minneapolis man was sentenced to more than 11 years in prison in Minneapolis Federal Court on Friday for distributing more than 300 images and nearly 100 videos containing child pornography.
Ivan W. Tencate was charged with distribution of child pornography on Sept. 1, 2010 and pleaded guilty on Sept. 23, 2010.
According to the plea agreement, Tencate admitted that between Feb. 9, 2009 and March 11, 2010, he distributed through his computer several images and videos showing minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct. He admitted to distributing and receiving the pornography through a peer-to-peer file sharing network.
Investigators met Tencate on Feb. 18, 2009, in an Internet chat room and received child pornography from him during that year. Tencate would use signals from Twin Cities coffee shops to avoid being tracked. He was arrested on March 11, 2010, at a south Minneapolis coffee shop.
