MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – An Eagan teen faces charges after her father told police she threatened his life when he wanted to take her car away, court documents filed last week say.
On March 12, a man told police that his daughter, Amal Osman, threatened him after he wanted to punish her for driving a car – that he and her mother bought for her – without permission.
A criminal complaint, the details of which are mostly supplied by Osman’s father, tells this story:
Osman, 18, lives with her mother and stepfather in Eagan. Her father lives in Burnsville.
When the teen’s mother told her father that Osman took the car (and struck her), the father asked that the car be taken back to the dealership.
Osman then called her father, and said: “If you call my mom again I will kill you.”
It should be noted that Osman is not allowed to drive because she does not have a driver’s license.
When Burnsville police officers met with her father, they saw he was upset and shaking. The father told police that he believes Osman is in a gang and that she has friends able to get guns.
He also told officers about an incident a year earlier in which Osman punched him in the stomach, sending him to the hospital.
Charges:
Osman faces one felony count of terroristic threats and one gross misdemeanor count of stalking.
If convicted of both charges, she faces a maximum penalty of 6 years in prison and/or a $13,000 fine.
