MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 24-year-old Minneapolis man has pleaded guilty to charges stemming from a June 2012 shooting at a library that left a homeless man paralyzed.

Timothy L. Harper pleaded guilty to felony first-degree assault in connection with the shooting inside the Franklin Avenue Library. It left Macdad Abdullahi, 42, paralyzed from the waist down. He suffered a gunshot wound to his lower back and was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, where doctors determined his injuries were irreversible.

Authorities say Abdullahi was brushing his teeth in the bathroom of the library when Harper came in and shot him without being provoked.

Harper will be sentenced in Hennepin County Court on April 15 and is currently in the Hennepin County Jail.
