MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A 39-year-old man has pleaded guilty in a Richfield crash that sent two people, including a state trooper, to the hospital.
Maurice LeShane Blevins specifically pleaded guilty to one gross misdemeanor count of criminal vehicular operation. Two other charges, DWI and driving after revocation, were dismissed. He was then sentenced to serve 30 days in the Hennepin County Workhouse and will be on supervised probation for two years.
The crash happened around 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 26, 2012 on the 494 on-ramp at Interstate 35W.
Two state patrol vehicles were on scene with their lights flashing for a separate crash. According to the police report, Blevins sideswiped one squad car and then rear-ended a second state patrol vehicle.
The trooper whose vehicle was rear-ended went to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
A passenger in Blevins vehicle was also injured. A third passenger in Blevin’s car, an 11-year-old child, wasn’t hurt and a fourth passenger suffered a few bruises.
The trooper whose vehicle was sideswiped walked away with no injuries.
