MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – One man is in police custody after a standoff Friday that lasted for nine hours in north Minneapolis.

According to Minneapolis Police, a report came in at approximately 11:30 a.m. of a man who stepped outside of a residence on the 3800 block of Aldrich Avenue North and fired one round from a gun.

When police arrived, the man retreated into the home. Officers set up a perimeter around the property and negotiated with the man for several hours. Multiple rounds of tear gas were fired into the residence, and police eventually used a remote-controlled Bobcat loader to open up one of the walls on the house.

The man tried to flee through the wall, but was subdued and taken into custody around 8:45 p.m. No one was injured, and the man was unarmed at the time of the arrest.
