MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A Coon Rapids man was charged Friday with stealing prosthetics and other supplies from the University of Minnesota Medical Center-Fairview and selling them online.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s office, 52-year-old Peter Stasica was charged with one count of wire fraud for removing prosthetics and related supplies without hospital authorization and selling them on eBay.

Stasica also bought prosthetics from patients who weren’t using them and didn’t tell them that he planned on selling them. He allegedly committed these crimes between February and March of 2011 when he was the prosthetics manager for Fairview’s Orthotics and Prosthetics Department.

Stasica could face up to 20 years in prison. His case is the result of an FBI investigation.
