MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A man is in the hospital after suffering a stab wound to the neck in Richfield early Tuesday morning, according to police.
At 1:29 a.m., Richfield Police were dispatched to the area of 66th Street and Nicollet Avenue on the report of a stabbing. Once they arrived, the officers located the victim who had been stabbed in the neck.
After administering aid to the victim, Hennepin County paramedics took the victim to the Hennepin County Medical Center for further treatment. He needed surgery and his condition is unknown at this time.
While paramedics helped the victim, police set up a perimeter and initiated a K-9 track. Soon after, the suspect was located on the 6300 block of Nicollet Avenue – hiding between two parked cars. He was taken into custody without incident, police say.
Police say the victim was taken to the Hennepin County Jail and booked for second-degree assault.
The incident is under investigation.
