MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Minneapolis Police have issued a crime alert, warning residents of a string of home burglaries that occurred last month.
Between Jan. 4 and Jan. 27, there were 12 similar home burglaries in three neighborhoods in Phillips — Midtown Phillips, East Phillips and Ventura Village.
Most burglaries occurred during the daylight hours when the victims weren’t home. Entrance was mostly made through the rear of the home and in eight instances, the doors were kicked in.
In one case, the door was pried open and in two cases, the doors were left unlocked.
Items stolen include electronics, laptops, tools and other items.
Police say there is enough information in two of the incidents to point to a suspect, but not enough to identify any specific individuals at this time.
Police remind homeowners to spread the word about the burglaries and stay alert. They also suggest upgrading or enforcing doors, door locks and other hardware.
If you suspect someone has been in your home or might be in your home, police warn that you should not go in and to call 911 immediately.
