PINE CITY, Minn. (WCCO) – Police say officers who were trying to arrest a wanted felon in rural Pine County late Sunday afternoon were nearly run down by the suspect.
The incident happened on Water Lily Road at about 5:30 p.m. As officers were trying to take Louis Ralph Workman Jr. into custody, a confrontation ensued.
Police said Workman got into a vehicle and sped toward officers who were still on foot. Driving conditions were described as slippery.
Officers fired shots at Workman’s vehicle. He was struck once in the hand but continued driving on Wildlife Road.
Police gave chase and, roughly one mile from the scene of the shooting, were able to force Workman’s vehicle into the ditch and take him into custody.
He is currently being held on a felony warrant, with further charges now likely.
