HUDSON, Wis. (WCCO) – The father accused of killing his three daughters in River Falls, Wis. last summer made another appearance in court on Thursday.

Police say last July, Aaron Schaffhausen called his ex-wife and asked if he could see the girls while she was at work. The girls were home with a babysitter.

The girls’ mother said the babysitter could leave and Schaffhausen could visit with his kids. Police say he killed 5-year-old Cecilia, 8-year-old Sophie and 11-year-old Amara Schaffausen in their home.

In court earlier this month, Schaffhausen changed his plea from not guilty to not guilty by reason of insanity.

On Thursday, the judge ruled his attorney will have to turn over any information regarding Schaffhausen’s mental health in the next few weeks. That would include evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment dating back to 2011, along with any information from the jail about Schaffhausen, who has been on suicide watch.

The judge denied another request from Schaffahusen’s attorney to move the trial out of St. Croix County because of publicity.

Schaffhausen is in court again in March. His trial is expected to start on April 1.
