ST. CLOUD, Minn. (WCCO) – Two men were arrested early Sunday morning and a rowdy crowd had to be pepper-sprayed during a bar fight in St. Cloud, according to police.
Authorities said the incident happened just after 2 a.m. Sunday outside McGrudy’s Bar on the 700 block of Germain St. W. When police got to the scene, two men were involved in a fight outside the bar and had to be separated by police.
The men were identified as 22-year-old Marvin Glen Matthews and 22-year-old Jeffrey Fitzgerald Bias II, both of St. Cloud. After briefly stopping the fight, police said Matthews started pushing an officer, grabbed his jacket and they both fell to the ground. Authorities said a group of 40 to 50 people circled around the officer and Matthews, and some were pulling at the officer’s jacket to interfere with the arrest.
Pepper-spray was then deployed, and the crowd began to disperse. Matthews has been charged with disorderly conduct and obstructing the legal process, and Bias II was charged with disorderly conduct. Both are currently in the Stearns County Jail as the incident is still under investigation.
Police said the officer was not hurt in the incident. It’s not clear what led up to the bar fight.
