MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The 38-year-old man accused of driving drunk and killing a Minnesota coach’s son in Starbuck, Minn., this summer has been sentenced to three counts of criminal vehicular homicide or operation.
Dana Allen Schoen, of rural Starbuck, Minn., pleaded guilty back in December to the three felony counts after his pickup collided with an SUV back in July.
The SUV was carrying Southwest Minnesota State University coach Brad Bigler and his family members. The collision critically injured Bigler, and killed his 5-month-old son Drake.
Schoen was sentenced to four years in prison. And his sentencing includes conditions of not using alcohol or controlled substances, submitting to random testing, and being unable to enter bars or liquor stores.
Schoen’s blood-alcohol level was a reported .32 percent at the time of the crash.
