Police Investigating Rash Of Minneapolis Business Robberies

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Police say they are looking for suspects who have apparently robbed at least three Minneapolis businesses over the last two weeks.

Authorities said since Jan. 8, three robberies have occurred in the Bancroft, Bryant, Central, Corcoran, Powderhorn Park and Standish areas of Minneapolis. At about 7:50 p.m. on Jan. 8, police say two suspects entered the Flag Foods on the 2800 block of East 42nd Street wearing gloves and with their faces covered. On suspect had a gun, and they took cash and cigarettes.

The suspects are described as black males 19 to 23 years old and about 5 feet, 9 inches to 6 feet tall. One of the men was wearing a gray or black sweatshirt with black pants. The second suspect was dressed in all black.

Police said at about 8:30 p.m. Monday, two suspects entered the Southside Food & Deli on the 3300 block of Chicago Avenue, one with a gun. The suspects took cash and are described as Somali men 20 to 25 years old. One suspect was 5 feet, 5 inches to 5 feet, 8 inches tall with a black hoodie, beige pants and a black winter ski mask over his face. The other suspect was about 5 feet to 5 feet, 4 inches tall and wearing a red hoodie under a black hoodie that was pulled over his head to cover his face.

The third robbery happened at about 1:20 p.m. Wednesday at Amigo, located on the 3200 block of Cedar Avenue. Police say suspects took cash and items from a manager and customer in the store. One of the two men had gun. They’re described as black men about 20 to 30 years old and about 6 feet tall with medium builds. They could possibly have east African accents. One suspect was wearing a tan coat, and the other had a black coat.

Police said it’s possible that the three robberies are related to the Dec. 19, 2012, robbery at Winners Gas Station on the 400 block of East 46th Street. Anyone with information about any of the robberies is asked to call Minneapolis Police at (612) 673-2941.
