MORRISON COUNTY, Minn. (WCCO) – A Morrison County jury found a 32-year-old Hutchinson man guilty of killing Dustin Brown in his Little Falls, Minn., trailer in October 2011.
Jason Ray Dominguez was found guilty on four counts of first-degree murder, two counts of second-degree murder and one count of felon in possession of a firearm.
According to police, Dominguez, who has but one arm, was upset that Brown owed him $1,400. Officers say he told multiple people he wanted to kill Brown because of the debt.
Authorities say Dominguez set fire to the porch of Brown’s trailer, then broke into it and confronted Brown. Dominguez told Martin he shot Brown seven times. Officers found Brown on the flood in his bedroom – two shots had hit him in the head. He was pronounced dead at St. Gabriel’s Hospital.
Before the sentencing, Dominguez told the judge that he shot Brown to “prevent retaliation” after lighting the porch on fire, and that “this was never just about the money … it is what it is.”
