MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A 51-year-old Minneapolis man has pleaded guilty to robbing a TCF Bank on West Lake Street along with three other banks, the United States Attorney’s Office announced.
On Friday, Phillip Leo Nietz specifically pleaded guilty to one count of bank robbery. He was indicted on Oct. 10, 2012.
In his plea agreement, Nietz admitted to walking in the TCF Bank on Aug. 22, 2012, handing a teller a note demanding money and leaving with approximately $3,794. He also admitted to robbing three other banks in the same manner: the U.S. Bank in Roseville, the Wells Fargo in St. Paul and the U.S. Bank in St. Paul.
Nietz could face up to 20 years in prison for his crime. His sentencing date has not been set.
