MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities seized more than 80 pounds of synthetic marijuana and about $232,000 in cash from a south Minneapolis tobacco store after a drug bust last week.

Police had been conducting an undercover narcotics investigation of a tobacco store on the 4600 block of Nicollet Avenue South in relation to the sale of the synthetic drug “K2,” also known as “420.” Authorities issued search warrants on the store and the owner’s New Brighton residence after getting several tips about the operation.

One of those tips was an undercover police officer who purchased synthetic marijuana from a clerk in the store four times, police said.

The search warrants were executed last Wednesday, with more than 80 pounds of marijuana being seized along with $232,000 in cash. That cash consisted of more than $190,000 in a suitcase at the owner’s home and more than $8,000 in the business’ microwave. A Mercedes Benz and jewelry were also seized.

Police arrested 30-year-old Mokrane Rahim and charged him with fourth-degree sale of a controlled substance in connection with the case. He could face other criminal charges.
