MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — An off-duty officer has found himself on the other side of the law after police say he was driving under the influence and speeding.

According to Lt. Eric Roeske of the Minnesota State Patrol, the off-duty officer from Belle Plaine was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving after a trooper spotted him going 96 mph in a 55-mph zone on Highway 169 at Park Boulevard.

The driver was pulled over around 2:26 a.m. Tuesday and, based on the trooper’s observation of the man, was asked to perform a field sobriety test.

The off-duty officer, later identified as Bryan Pasek, failed the test and was taken to the Shakopee Police Department, where he registered a 0.17 BAC.

He was booked into the Scott County jail on suspicion of third-degree DWI. Roeske said the report indicates that Pasek was cooperative. Belle Plaine city officials said Pasek is on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation.

Pasek has a prior DWI conviction from 2003. As a result of that conviction, Pasek was suspended from the police force for three days.
