MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 52-year-old Champlin man is in jail after allegedly meeting a teenage girl online and asking her to have sex for money, the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office said.
On Monday, Mark Jerome Anderson was charged with prostitution of a known juvenile (a felony). The sheriff’s office and Dayton Police began an investigation after learning that Anderson was sexting with the victim.
In Anderson’s discussions with the victim, the two wrote about their ages and how to meet up in person. Anderson also offered to pick the victim up from school and then pay her for sex, the sheriff’s office said.
When Anderson arrived at the school, he sent a message to the victim. The victim, however, never saw the message, because school officials had taken her phone earlier.
Anderson is currently in the Hennepin County jail. His bail is set on $75,000.
