MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 38-year-old Minnesota woman suspected in the murders of her ex-husband and boyfriend pleaded guilty to murder charges on Tuesday in Benton County (Wis.) Court.
Angelina Omara pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the death of James Omara. She is still accused of second-degree murder in the death of her boyfriend, 36-year-old Michael Pies, who was found dead at an Ashland, Wis., hotel the day after James Omara’s death.
Police at the time said Pies died of a gunshot wound to the head and his death was ruled a homicide. Authorities said both men died in similar fashion, of a gunshot wound to the head with a pillow over their face.
Authorities said they were told by neighbors that Omara had been staying at her ex-husband’s apartment in Sauk Rapids off and on for about a month and was also reportedly sharing a hotel room in Ashland, Wis., with Pies.
Angelina Omara is set to be sentenced for first-degree murder on Dec. 21. She is still facing trial for the murder of Pies.
