MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A second man has pleaded guilty to the 2011 home invasion and fatal shooting in Minneapolis, announced the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office.

Semaj Williams, 22, of Brooklyn Park specifically pleaded guilty to second-degree intentional murder. He is expected to receive a 460-month prison sentence.

Under questioning, Williams admitted that he, Robert Shelby and Xavier Walker planned the home break-in and robbery on the night of July 20, 2011. The plan was to break into the house of a drug dealer near Lake Street and 45th Avenue South and steal money and drugs, Williams said.

Williams said that during the course of the robbery, the victim, 25-year-old Shea Stremcha, walked around a corner and Walker shot him. Williams later admitted to knowing that they had broken into the wrong house and Stremcha was not the drug dealer.

According to the criminal complaint, Stremch and his fiancé were sleeping when she heard glass break. She woke Strencha, who grabbed a knife and went to investigate. He apparently stabbed Shelby in the hand before being shot once in the heart.

In May, 28-year-old Shelby of St. Paul pleaded guilty and will be sentenced to 426 months in prison.

Walker, 25, of no permanent address, will go on trial for first-degree murder March 4.
