MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A Wisconsin man is facing felony charges after police say he spit in an officer’s face after being ejected from a Minneapolis bar.
Police were in the area of the Pourhouse bar, near 5th Street and Hennepin Avenue South, on Oct. 14 and noticed two bouncers removing people from the bar. The bouncers say the people caused a disturbance before being ejected.
The officers intervened and told the people they had to leave. They say the people continued yelling homophobic and derogatory remarks at the officers and bouncers.
Police say in order to stop a potential fight from breaking out, they used mace to defuse the situation. One of the males in the group, identified as Ryan Christopher Huenink, then spit in one of the officer’s faces and attempted to flee the area.
He was arrested and booked. During the investigation, Huenink admitted he was “being stupid” and “trying to show off a little.”
Huenink, 24, of Madison, Wis. was charged with one count of felony assault and one count of fleeing an officer on foot.
