BROOKLYN CENTER (WCCO) — A 20-year-old New Hope woman has pleaded guilty to charges connecting her to an incident where a 4-year-old was struck in the head with a wrench, according to the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office.

Passion Danneyeall Russell, the last of three people charged in the incident to plead guilty, was sentenced to 18 months on probation on a gross misdemeanor riot charge.

Earlier this month, Nico Marshall, 18, of New Hope pleaded guilty to three counts of second-degree assault for throwing the wrench. He’s expected to be sentenced to 27 months in prison. Narvell Porter, 20, of Minneapolis pleaded guilty to second-degree riot and was put on three years of probation.

According to authorities, the incident occurred on May 7 in Brooklyn Center when several friends got off a bus and were shouted at by another group that included Russell, Marshall and Porter. One of the people in the first group called a family member to rescue them by picking them up.

When the friend arrived, Russell and her group surrounded the car a smashed several of its windows. Marshell then threw a wrench that hit the child sitting in the backseat, fracturing his skull.

The boy has since recovered.
