MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 20-year-old Minneapolis man has been indicted on charges of first-degree murder by a Hennepin County Grand Jury on Thursday.

According to the Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman, Samuel Johosephat Taylor was indicted for the murder of cab driver William Harper, 56, on March 14. Taylor was committing an aggravated robbery of Harper when the fatal shooting occurred.

The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office convened the grand jury and also obtained an indictment for second-degree murder against Taylor. He has been held on a criminal complaint for second-degree murder filed March 22.

Taylor’s murder trial is set to begin Monday before Judge Daniel Moreno. He was expected to make his first appearance on the first-degree murder charge Friday

A witness in Harper’s murder later claimed to have been shot at on two separate occasions by Taylor’s younger brother, 17-year-old Josiah Taylor. Josiah was later charged as an adult with one count of Tampering with a Witness in the First Degree.
