MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 39-year-old Mississippi man working at Pioneer Days in St. Francis is accused of drunkenly threatening others with a knife before being tasered twice and damaging a squad car, according to charges filed Tuesday in Anoka County Court.
David Allan Thrash of Walnut Grove, Miss., was charged with second-degree assault, terroristic threats, obstructing the legal process and fourth-degree damage to property in connection with the June 6 incident.
According to a complaint, St. Francis Police were called to the scene on the 22000 block of St. Francis Boulevard on a report of an out of control man with a knife. The man, later identified as Thrash, showed up to work at Pioneer Days in St. Francis but was intoxicated and belligerent. Two of his co-workers said that Thrash had threatened them with a knife.
When officers located Thrash, he was combative with officers as they took him into custody. Officers tasered Thrash twice, hobble his legs and pull his shirt over his head to prevent Thrash from getting bodily fluids on them. After being placed in a squad car, Thrash kicked at the doors and damaged the trim of the police car, the complaint states.
Authorities say Thrash caused about $474 in damage to the squad car.
If convicted on all offenses, Thrash faces more than 15 years in prison and up to $30,000 in fines.
