MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Plymouth police are asking residents to keep their garages and cars locked and to beware of suspicious activity after two adults and three juveniles were arrested Thursday morning for entering unlocked cars.

The two adult suspects admitted to committing thefts in nearby communities by entering unlocked cars and garages.

“The juvenile suspects advised officers that stealing property from vehicles and garages is a growing trend because it is an easy crime of opportunity,” police said.

The department said “car break-ins are the most commonly reported crime in Plymouth,” despite being easy to prevent.

To avoid becoming a victim, police advise that you remove all valuables from your car and park it in a locked garage.

Also, be on the lookout for suspicious activity. If you see anything – such as people looking into cars – call 911.
