BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (WCCO) – A 61-year-old was arrested Friday night after allegedly hitting a 6-year-old child with a car at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
Airport Spokesperson Pat Hogan said the incident happened at about 6 p.m. Friday in the green short-term parking ramp at the airport. Authorities arrested Tommy Rodriguez of St. Paul for criminal vehicular operation.
Authorities said they smelled alcohol on Rodriguez’s breath at the time of the incident, but it’s not yet known if he had been drinking or what his blood alcohol content might have been. Hogan said the child was on his way to welcome his father home from a military deployment to Iraq.
There were no other injuries in the incident. The child’s name has not yet been released, and authorities said the child’s injuries appear to be non-life threatening. The incident is still under investigation at this time.
